Bike #1 (this is not a pic of my original bike, but is exactly like it, color, striping and all)
1974
450 cc
Honda
(Now Sold)
1. 1977 - Purchased from my cousin.
2. 1977 thru 1980 - Rode it mostly to work and back. Did do a trip to Ocean City, MD on it though. Other than that, most trips on it were 100 miles or less. Survived one crash into a phone pole. Fixed the bike up and was riding again within a month.
3. 1980 or 1981 - Sold it when I was run off the road on the way to work. (future wife had some say in this!)
Bike #2
1982
500 cc
Honda Silverwing
(Now Sold)
1. 2002 thru 2003 - Wife wanted to get back into riding bikes again! Purchased and rode a lot of short rides to get used to riding again at age 43.
2. 2004 - Garaged while I rode the below Goldwing.
3. 2005 - Let buddy ride bike, just so it wasn't setting another year.
3. 2006 - SOLD it to my buddy.
4. [GL500 Manual] pdf - 74.5MB
Bike #3
1985
1200 cc
Honda Goldwing Ltd. Edition
Still on the road and running GREAT!
1. 2003 thru 2005 - Rode a LOT of short rides, 200 miles or less.
2. 2006 - Ride to New York City - 1007 miles round trip (911 Foundation Ride).
3. 2007 - Went to the Honda Homecoming, Marysville, OH.
4. 2007 - Did the "Poorboy's Conversion" on my bike. Stator went bad, didn't want to spend the over $1000.00 to fix. So I spend a little over $250.00 and my own labor and bike now has a Japanese car alternator (Nependenso, or something like that) on it. Works even better than the stator at charging the battery. The Nependenso alternator is smaller than the American version of the same alternator, so it hides behind the fairing without having to do any reshaping to the fairing at all. Looking at the picture above, it's right behind the side vent on the left side of the fairing.
5. 2008 - I did an LED light bulb switch over! Fantastic change in how little voltage now being used. Go to LED Nights for info on Goldwing kits. I ordered the GL1200 Kit (10 bulbs) and had to order another 46 bulbs and that didn't include the instrument panel, travel computer, or License plate light bulbs. $250.00 dollars worth of LED bulbs.
6. 2008 - Purchased a used 1986 Escapade trailer for Goldie in mid May. Already paint matched for the 1985 GL1200LTD. See below for info on this.
7. 2008 - Attended the "Honda Hoot" down in Knoxville, TN - 1,800 miles round trip (Click here to see pics taken during the trip).
8. Really don't want a Bike #4, this one is great!

Bike #3A
("A" for Accessories)
1986
17 cubic foot storage
Escapade "Classic"
(Purchased in May, 2008)
1. Purchased trailer from a person we bowl with, it belonged to his Dad. Trailer was purchased and painted by the original owner to match his 1985 Goldwing LTD (Gold and Brown). That Wing only had 23,000 miles, so I don't think the trailer really got used that much.
2. Will be changing the bulbs in this one to LED also (LED Nights), just like I did to Goldie.
3. [Escapade Trailer Manual] pdf - 51.5KB
